Pro Turn PT series VT 10 Gang tools plus turret combine the productivity of our P series with the increased tooling capacity of a static turret or static/dynamic turret to increase our customers manufacturing capability.
VT Series Structure And Axes Way Systems Pro Turn has been using high quality stress-relieved Mechanite Cast Iron for decades to ensure the structure is free of distortion for all of our lathe components such as beds, carriages, cross slides, headstocks and tailstocks because of Mechanite Cast Iron's superior material strength to
weight ratio and vibration dampening characteristics.With our experience and techniques,implementing the latest finite Element Method Structural Analysis and coupled with Failure Mode Effect Analysis, Pro-Turn has produced the optimum static and dynamic stiffness for all our VT Series.
The double wall Torque Tube bed design ensures thermal and torsional stability. All the
components are internally, strategically ribbed with symmetrically enlarged cross sections providing increased dynamic stability and greater secondary moment rigidity. This prevents localized deformation of slideways and structures, maintaining alignments under maximum loads and extreme cutting conditions, increasing the VT Series productive capabilities, enhancing you, our customers, work piece quality.
The 54 to 58 Rc induction heat treated and hardened way surfaces are all finished, ground in
one setup, ensuring precision alignments and increased tracking accuracy. Due to the bed design and the turning approach angle, all X to Z-axis thrust loads are distributed over the axis bed ways,not parallel to the axis travel, thus eliminating ballscrew and bearing loading.
Optimum machine stiffness is required during heavy turning cuts, for fine feed rates, high
performance traverse rates and critical surface finishes.Therefore, Mighty USA has implemented on the X-axis ways of the VT 8, 10 and 12 the Box and Dovetail design and on the Z-axis ways of the VT 8 and 10 the Box Type arrangement. Turcite B is bonded to the axis mating members and precision scraped for increased bearing contact, enhancing the wear resistance, ensuring smooth axis movements at all feeds. The Z-axis on the VT 12 incorporates a Linear Way system with recirculating balls, achieving endless linear motion.
